Horror fans have been rejoicing after Roblox announced, in partnership with Xbox, that Chucky would be making his way to a limited-time game mode in Roblox, and it promises to pack a fright.
If you’re a horror fan, then you will have heard of Chucky. Y’know, the scary doll fella that has been possessed by a serial killer and rejoices in the idea of killing as many people as possible. Well, he will now be appearing in a Roblox game entitled ‘Griefville: Survive the NIghmare!’, although he’ll only be available for a very short period of time.
The Game
The Chucky game is clearly inspired by games like Dead by Daylight. In Griefville, you’ll either play the role of Chucky or his victims. If you play as Chucky, your goal is to kill everybody. If you play as a victim then, well, your goal is to run as fast as you can and hope he won’t be stabbing you.
The game is likely to be pretty simplistic, this is Roblox after all. Don’t expect it to be a fully-fledged experience like you’ll find in Dead by Daylight. However, we reckon that friends will have a huge amount of fun hunting down one another. If you’re planning to play as a victim (and you should, that’s the scariest role to play), then make sure that you pick up some Roblox Robux so you can pick up a few cosmetics. It’ll make you look so much better.
The Future of Griefville
While the Chucky experience will only be for a limited time, Griefville is a game that will be around for the long-term. The developers behind it, RocketRide, have plenty of other 80s and 90s horror characters in the pipeline, and every so often, they will be cycled out and a new character will replace them.
We have absolutely no idea how long Griefville will be around, or if we’ll see horror characters return after they have been cycled out. What we can tell you is that the game is likely to expand very quickly. It is evident there is a lot of time, cash, and effort behind the game (as evidenced by the fact it was being promoted by Xbox), so expect the experience in Griefville to get better over time.
