    Winter has knocked on the door with its full power. Winter is the season that makes us stay indoors, warm, and cozy at times. The change in weather demands a change in diet. This year, especially, poses a lot of health problems as we continue to work from home and there is less physical activity. So it’s the time when you enrich your diet with nutrient rich food which may help you to deal with overall health problems.

    There is much food specially available and enjoyed during the season, that can help to keep warm a provide nutrients that are most necessary for the body during this season. The changing weather affects our metabolism and energy levels. The cold climate tempts to have extra unhealthy food. So you need to monitor the food you are eating this season to stay energetic and healthy. Enrich your diet with nutrient-rich food which may help you boost your immunity, good skin, and overall health. Here is a list of winter superfood you must have this season:

    7 Winter Superfood

    Jaggery

    Jaggery is an unrefined sugar made from sugarcane and palm. It is often referred to as a superfood sweetener. It is the cheapest and most widely available food during winters for stronger immunity. It is rich in antioxidants and minerals such as zinc, iron, and selenium. It can help prevent free radical damage and also boost resistance against infections. It treats flu-like symptoms. It boosts immunity, purifies the blood, and detoxes the liver.

    Sweet Potato

    Sweet potatoes are a sweet and starchy root vegetable. They are a good source of fiber, potassium, vitamins, and other essential nutrients. It has high sugar content than your regular potato, but its nutritional value is way higher. They are antioxidants powerhouse and anti-inflammatory which helps to regulate blood pressure. Regular consumption can help in curing constipation, improve your immunity, and is known to reduce inflammation.

    Almonds And Walnuts

    Almond and walnuts keep you warm during winters. These nuts improve insulin sensitivity and keep your body and heart-healthy. Regular intake of almonds and walnuts in winter ensures an active nervous system. They are packed with minerals, vitamins, and heart healthy fats. They are used in various recipes and consumed alone. It protects you from heart diseases. It lowers your blood pressure. You can have them as a snack when you are hungry between your meals.

    Sesame

    Sesame is the seed of the sesame plant. The plant is an annual herb with foxglove-like flowers that produce pods containing edible sesame seeds. It has two varieties white and black. The white has delicate which is used in all dishes and black has rich flavors and a strong aroma. They are rich in minerals, an excellent source of copper, and a very good source of calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, and phosphorus. It lowers cholesterol and blood pressure. It supports healthy bones.

    Peanuts

    Peanuts are the most powerful nuts with a strong nutritional profile. They are an excellent source of plant-based protein, fiber, and many key vitamins and minerals. Peanuts are like a snack that you can enjoy with some chutney at any time. They also contain plenty of potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, and B vitamins. It may protect your gallstone. Despite being high in calories, peanuts are nutrient-rich and low in carbohydrates.

    Green Vegetables

    During the time of winters abundance of green vegetables has been produced. It includes spinach, kale, cabbage, mustard, fenugreek. They are packed with antioxidants that will keep you fit and healthy throughout the day. It makes your body to fight infections and boost your immunity. These veggies are full of fiber, low to no fat, cholesterol free and wonderful amount of antioxidants.

    Seasonal Fruits

    Apples, sweet apple, berries, guava are such winter fruits which are full of micronutrients, fiber and take care of your skin by hydrating. They have particular vitamins and nutrients that your body needs in the season.
