Can we ever say no to a hearty pizza for a meal? Pizza tops the list of our favorite foods that we can have any time of the day. However, it takes a full-blown hunger level to finish an entire pizza. But, if you are in a mood for a small bite, you can make this mini version of pizza as a snack. You may wonder why to put in all the efforts to make pizza when all you want is just a couple of bites. Don’t worry, you don’t need to get or make the pizza base, just use your regular bread for the crispy and airy pizza base.
Bread in the base might sound unappetizing but believe us, it is not. And, if you bake it in your oven, you’ll get a light, crunchy and fluffy base with a simple yet delicious cheesy topping. You can grill it on tawa or pan. It is a quick, instant, and tasty variation of pizza recipe which you can enjoy while craving for pizza. The bread base mimics the pizza base with veggie toppings.
It has veg topping with green and yellow bell pepper, tomato, sweet corn, onion, and black olives are used here. These easy homemade mini pizzas, indeed an interesting snack for kids which they enjoy and you can serve a variety of vegetables to them on the pizza which they deny to eat. These homemade mini pizzas are healthy and hygienic too.
For the base of the pizza, I used bread slices and cut those slices with the help of cookies cutter or tumbler. If you don’t want to use bread then you can take the tortilla sheets and cut them. It will also make your nice firm, crispy and nice pizza which you can enjoy at your snack.
In my recipe I have used bread you can use any variety of bread to make bread pizza like whole wheat flour bread or white bread or multi-grain bread or brown bread or wheat sandwich bread. But I have used white bread for the pizza. Don’t use fresh bread as fresh bread will become soggy after applying sauces and don’t become firm and crisp.
Generally, pizza sauce is used to make a pizza. But in this recipe, you can use white sauce and even pesto sauce as the base sauce or you can use schezwan chutney with mayonnaise to make your pizza creamy and spicy. You can also use homemade sauces at the base. To your pizza garlicky take a tablespoon of butter and add chopped garlic and mix it well. Apply garlic butter on the bread slices.

For the toppings, you can use veggies of your choice. I always stick to onions, tomatoes, and capsicum (bell pepper). You can also add some olives. Sometimes I add steamed sweet corn too. You can even use baby corn, sauteed mushrooms, or sauteed spinach. To make it more colorful you can add red, yellow, and green bell peppers.
You can make the pizza sandwich with the same recipe. In this, you don’t need to cut the bread slices. Take the bread slice apply the sauce and top it with your favorite ingredients cover it with another bread slice and put it in a sandwich maker.
Bread Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
- Bread slices 6-7
- Butter 1 tbsp
- Pizza sauce 2 tbsp
- Mayonnaise 2 tbsp
- Onion (medium) 1
- Capsicum (medium) 1
- Tomato (medium) 1
- Boiled corn 2 tbsp
- Oregano as required
- Chili flakes as required
- Black pepper as required
- Mozzarella cheese 1 cup
Method
- Heat a heavy tawa or pan or griddle. Spread butter on it. Keep the flame to its lowest.
- Now take the bread slice and cut it with the help of cookie cutter.
- Now place bread slice on it. You can keep 1 to 2 bread slices at a time depending on the size of the griddle or tawa or pan.
- Lightly toast the bread from the base and then flip it.
- Now spread mayonnaise and pizza sauce on the lightly toasted side.
- Top with onion, capsicum, tomato, and corn.
- Now top it with cheese.
- Sprinkle dried herbs like oregano, basil, black pepper, and chili flakes.
- Put the bread pizza on a pan.
- Keep the flame to its lowest. Place a lid on the bread pizza.
- Cook till cheese melts and the bread is toasted.
- Remove with a spatula and place it on a serving plate.
