I am a pizza lover so try new recipes of pizza and their fusion recipes. Last time shared my memory of dreaming pizza. Pizza Pinwheel is one of the pizza fusion recipes. It has buttery dough with pizza toppings, rolled into small treats, and served hot is simply hard to resist. It is the fabulous crispy and cheese appetizer.
Pizza pinwheel is little bite-sized swirls of pizza, stuffed with onion, capsicum, and topped with Parmesan, served with a schezwan sauce. It is a fun way to eat pizza. A crispy pinwheel is flavorful and irresistible. It has a great flaky texture with melted cheese.
How To Make Pizza Sauce?
In this recipe, I have used ready-made pizza sauce but you can easily make this at home with a few simple steps. You all need to have tomato paste, tomato sauce, onion powder, dried basil, dried parsley, oregano, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper. Mix all the ingredients and your pizza sauce is ready. The pizza sauce must be super flavorful because it is the seasoning of the pinwheel.

Variations In Pizza Pinwheel Toppings
As I am vegan so I have used vegetables in the stuffing but it’s your choice that what you want to stuff in your pizza pinwheel. I have made it very simple but you can use red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, mushrooms, olives, etc.
Add fresh basil and garlic. To give a fruity taste you can go for pineapple too.
In non-vegetarian options, you can go for ham, pepperoni or crumbled sausages.
Tips To Make Pizza Pinwheel
- When we spread the pizza sauce, we need to leave the border on the top long edge of the dough so we can use it to seal our rolled-up dough. The toppings will naturally push forward as you roll the dough up, so this also helps you fit all your toppings in with a little extra leeway.
- You need to roll tightly. Starting from the long side closest towards you, tightly roll up the dough, pinching in any toppings that try to escape. It takes a little patience to go from left to right rolling up the dough, but I promise, it is easy. If your pizza pinwheels seem loose once you cut them, you can grab the end of the dough and wrap them tighter.
- Cut the dough with a serrated knife. A serrated knife works the best in cutting through all the layers. We first cut off the ends of the roll then slice the roll into equal pieces. I find the easiest way to do this is to slice the roll in half, then in half again so you have equal pieces.
- Make sure that your pinwheels are golden. To give a nice golden color brush it with butter. When your cheese is ooey-gooey and your dough is golden, then your pizza pinwheels are done.
